February 2022 - New Year is here and Brookwood Memorial Halls are back up and running, busy with hirers. Our appeal for helpers has been a success; we have been thrilled to welcome some new faces to the managrment team and now we look to the year ahead. It’s been a long time since we were all able to gather together as a community and celebrate, so we thought we would use the Queen’s Jubilee on Sunday 5th June (get that date in your diaries!) as the opportunity for a bit of a knees up! Everyone is welcome and details will follow but in the meantime we would like to invite all village groups, individuals and traders to get involved, and to join the coordinating team.
If you would like to be involved, please email firstname.lastname@example.org - and the coordinator will be in touch soon!
January 2022 - YOUR VILLAGE HALL NEEDS YOU! NOW IS THE TIME TO STEP UP.
As we return to this “new normal” everyone speaks of, whatever that might be, it is a pleasure to welcome back our 21 regular hirers to Brookwood Memorial Halls (see www.bmhalls.org.uk for details). Whether it’s the sound of small children at Baby & Toddlers, some bigger ones at Scouts, the sound of music and dancing or the chatter of people catching up at parties, it has been a joy!
However, we are in urgent need of your support, the workload on the small team of volunteers is too much. If new helpers do not come forward, the Halls face handover to the Council, or third party to run it. At least, there will be a rise in hire costs and reduction of service, at worst, the Charity would be closed.
We are in particular need of a Treasurer, so if numbers are your bag please get in touch, no formal qualifications are required. Our Treasurer manages invoices and payment through the booking system, pays invoices, operates the Hall’s bank account with co signatories, provides a financial report for our monthly committee meetings (of under an hour) and provides information for the independent examination of the Village Hall accounts.
In addition to Treasurer other trustee roles for Chair and Secretary, with a handover period, are also required and need to be fulfilled before our next AGM in April. We have also created several smaller volunteer roles. So, if you have enjoyed your kids birthday parties at the hall, have been part of Scouts or trained your puppy there please think about how much worse off the village would be without this fantastic facility on the doorstep and consider committing a few hours monthly to helping us maintain them.

Regulations regrettably still do not allow return of children’s soft play groups. Government advice remains for all at increased risk of severe disease from COVID-19 to stay at home as much as possible and to minimise contact with others outside their household or support group. Any with suspected COVID symptoms should self isolate and call NHS 111 if symptoms worsen.
Jan 2019 - Icy Conditions - During periods of snow and ice, we will endeavour to keep the Halls open for pedestrian access. We do not have the resources to keep the driveway and car park clear of snow and ice. Users deciding to cancel bookings should contact our Lettings Agent in time for us to adjust the pre-set heating please.
